Microdermabrasion is a treatment in which tiny diamonds come in contact with your skin to help in adjusting skin related issues. These diamonds remove the dead skin cells and try to heal any imperfection that your skin has. It stands effective in treating brown spots, wrinkles, fine lines and other aging signs. It is considered as a great alternative to costly and invasive procedures like plastic surgery and chemical peels.
Your treatment will start off with a cleansing routine, and then work into the use of the Diamond Microdermabrasion machine and will finish off with a soothing hydrating serum as well as cooling blue light LED if your service provider sees it necessary.
If you want to eliminate wrinkles, fine lines, large pores, scarring, or age spots on your body, microdermabrasion might be a beneficial treatment for you. The ideal candidates for this procedure are those in good health who do not have underlying health conditions or complications that make it difficult to heal from wounds.
Microdermabrasion is not recommended for people who are pregnant, have skin cancer, active acne, rosacea, eczema, or diabetes.
No. While some patients may experience slight stinging or tingling on their skin, the precise scratching of microdermabrasion was made to be gentle to avoid patient discomfort. We prioritize patient comfort and safety at Aionios Med Spa and are happy to accommodate patients who feel extra sensitivity to the microdermabrasion procedure.
Although microdermabrasion is a safe, efficient, non-invasive procedure, patients may still experience some risks and side effects. These can include:
- Increased skin sensitivity
- Sensitivity to sunlight
In severe cases, patients may experience bleeding or infection; however, under the care of our highly trained team at Aionios Med Spa, these risks can easily be avoided and managed.
After your treatment, you may experience some short-lived discomfort. Post-treatment side effects such as tenderness, dry or flaky skin, and light bruising are common and typically go away a few days after treatment. During your recovery period, it’s best not to scratch, pick, or scrub the dead skin from your body, as this can cause scarring, cuts, and bleeding. Peeling away dry skin can also lead to redness, hyperpigmentation, and infection. We recommend applying a moisturizer while you heal. If you experience slightly more sensitivity during this time, that’s perfectly normal, as new skin cells are slowly being brought to the surface as the dead ones shed off.
Because the skin on our bodies sheds dead skin cells and replaces itself about every four weeks, the results from your microdermabrasion treatment will last for about one month. However, by following the proper skincare treatments and your aftercare guidelines, your results may last longer!
Some things you can do to optimize your results and keep them lasting longer are:
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure
- Use sunscreen daily
- Keep your body moisturized
To maintain your desired look, we recommend patients have their microdermabrasion treatment down about every four weeks.
